HERB BRUSSEL SPROUTS
Have you ever been in the grocery store and you look over at the veggies that they have out on display or even bagged and wondered how to determine if they are going to be good ? Today I want to share with you the process that I go through when it comes to shopping and how I love to enjoy brussel sprouts.
INGREDIENTS:
Serving Size: 4
Time Duration: 30 min
Plant Based, Soy, Vegan, Vegetarian
1 Bag Brussels
Bay Leaves
Coarse Black Pepper
Coarse Sea Salt
3 Tbsp Rosemary Olive Oil
Fresh or Dry Rosemary Stems
INSTRUCTIONS:
To prepare this dish you will begin by cleaning the 1 bag of brussel sprouts. Remove any leaves that maybe discolored you can do this by simply pulling them off. Once they are cleaned off grab an oven safe dish. Personally, I like to use a glass safe dish to prepare them similar to what I have pictured above. For this recipe I utilized 3 Tbsp of Rosemary olive oil but you could easily prepare this by using your prefered olive oil.
Add in the bay leaves, rosemary, salt , pepper and then coat and toss the brussel sprouts so that they can be covered evenly in the herbs . Meanwhile you want to heat up your oven to 400F . Grab a sheet of foil and cover and put it in the oven for 30 minutes until they are tender. If you like them to have a slightly crispy exterior like what I have pictured uncover towards the last 5 minutes .
Look for bright green Brussels sprouts. Black spots or yellow leaves are signs of decay. Once you bring them home, Brussels sprouts will last a week or two in the refrigerator. Any longer than that and they may start to smell.
To cook, rinse your sprouts well to remove any dirt. Slice off the bottom which has a tough texture, even when cooked, and remove any outer, wilted leaves. You can toss Brussels sprouts with olive oil and roast them until browned, or steam them in a pot with a few inches of water. They're also easily sautéed or microwaved. You can add raw, shaved Brussels sprouts to soups and salads. Don't boil your Brussels sprouts. This can lead to the mushy, bitter taste that many people hate. It also wipes out many of this veggie's nutrients. Share with me below what’s your favorite way to enjoy brussel sprouts ?
