VEGAN BIRRIA HIBISCUS TORTA
Vegan birria red sauce that requires only seven ingredients for you to make and in only 15-20 minutes. Personally, this recipe was inspired by fellow content creator Stephanie from Views on the Road. I added some tweaks to it and added some of the Gwen flair and I hope that you will enjoy this recipe with hibiscus . Encourage you to give this version a try it with an open mind.
INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
6 bay leaves
4 carrots
6 dry california chile pods
2 tbsp chicken bouillon
6 garlic cloves
6 dry guajillo peppers
1/2 bag hibiscus
torta bread
1 large white onion
5 cups water hot & cold
INSTRUCTIONS:
Hibiscus :
1. Start taking half of your hibiscus flower bag and empty it into a mixing bowl.
2. Clean off the flowers with hot water until it’s covered.
3.Let it steep for 10 minutes and you can use that water for hibiscus water.
4. Then add in the apple cider vinegar and let it soak for another 15 minutes. After that dump out the water that contains the apple cider down your sink.
5.Rinse the flowers a third time and then set aside while you make the red sauce.
Red Sauce:
1. Start by boiling a full pot of water
2. Add carrots, bay leaves, California chile pods, Guajillo peppers, garlic, white onion , vegan chicken bouillon to the pot
3.Cook until everything is softened including all of the dry peppers
4. Remove the tops of the dry peppers before adding them into the blender
5.Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until combined
6. Pour back into the pot that you used and add in your hibiscus flowers that you drained out with apple cider vinegar.
7. Cook on low-medium heat and cook for 30 minutes until flowers are softened and add to your torta bread or enjoy with your corn or flour tortillas.
