VEGAN APPLE CRISP

Please note this post is sponsored by Zulka but all opinions are my own.

Hands down one of my favorite desserts to enjoy year around but especially as Fall approaches is the classic apple crisp. It is such a crowd pleaser and brings all the things you love in an apple pie but it takes less time to make with minimal ingredients.

For this recipe I have tried and tested with various types of apples such as Gala, Granny Smith Honey Smith and even Fiji for you all and I’m happy to report my recipe has done well with all three . So feel free to use what you have on hand in the kitchen or feel free to use a combination of the three. One of my must have ingredients that I use on a consistent basis in my all around cooking is Zulka brown cane sugar and pure cane sugar. The reason I choose there sugar is it’s real granulated sugar that is evaporated the juice from pure sugar cane . Not to mention it’s Non-GMO project certified , kosher and vegan .

I’d like to say thank you to Zulka sugar for sponsoring todays recipe! I’m truly grateful to be partnering with my go to sugar that I’ve been using and testing my SimpliDished recipes for over five years! My hope is that you’ll give them a try as well. As I only share the best vegan brands with you that I personally use in my home .

HOW TO MAKE APPLE CRISP :

1. Start by cleaning off your apples. Remove the apple core with an apple corer for easy removal and then cut the apples into small pieces. You don’t want to cut them thick as this will make for more time in the oven to cook. Please note if you like to remove the skin of the apples you can but I prefer to keep them on. Whisk melted butter and flour together in a small bowl , then stir in the water , fresh lemon juice , brown sugar , Saigon cinnamon and sea salt . Pour over the apples in a bowl and stir to combine .

2. Dump the coated apples into a sprayed baking dish or tart pan.

3 . Make the crumb topping in a separate bowl adding in the flour, brown sugar or white Zulka sugar, oats, cinnamon , baking powder and sea salt . Then slowly add in the vegan butter until it crumbles . I find it best to do this by hand .

4 . Sprinkle the crumb on top of the apples and cook for 45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly .

5 . Top that Apple crisp with vegan caramel sauce , vanilla ice cream or whip cream and enjoy!
